Tell me what am I doing wrong

I have a blue vag cable with ft232bl chip that's setup for battery and ignition. Running it on vmware. I have set the com port to com1 and installed the driver in XP Porfessional. When I hook the cable up to my E66 745li and run INPA the battery and ignition stays blank and does not read anything whatsoever. ANy help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys..

Have you edited the Ediabas.ini file,as per instructions?

I could not find the ini file. looking in the bin folder and saw a PDF labeled ini pdf with some Microsoft office styled lettering but could not locate a system file with the extension of .ini....Can someone tell me what edits are necessary to the ini file???
