engine is m60
got into the car this morning and backed out of the garage, HUGE oil leak made streaks comming out and then dropped a quart or so in the driveway the 30 seconds it was sitting.

So my question is because i dont really have time right now to search, is whats on the drivers side of the engine thats common failure like this.
oil filter housing area...oil line seals (orings i believe), ???e etc?

thanks all

You sure it wasn't CHF fluid from the PS?
If you hit something it may be the oil pan.

didnt hit anything yesterday. so def not the pan. i come from driving a VW that was sub 3" off the ground lol. this car is like skyjacked in comparison. It was 100% engine oil.

Check your hoses to the filter housing or o-rings between engine block and mount (driver's side).

thats what im hoping for. being at work till 5ish is only making me overthink it. FCP is like 2 miles from my work so i figure i can stop there on the way home if in fact the orings are common failure...

make sure all the oil pan bolts are tight?? Analog just posted about a leak that was a result of that.

it was actually one of the oil lines that go to the oil filter housing. it was actually a very wierd happening. woke up to smoke in the living room (right above the garage) and smoke in the garage when i went down to go to work. then the OP happened. opened the hook and found all the little ash pieces that happens when theres electrical burnups. uh oh. and it smelled terrible. pulled the alternator (PITA) to get a good look. found a melted rear alt cover and the large red wire had its shielding all missing and burned/flaked off. got it all apart and then started it to find the leak. one of the large oil lines must have ruptured becuase of the short the large wire created. very odd. putting in a new rebuilt alternator and sheilding the crap out of the large wire. also putting all new orings on the oil lines. god this car is eating me alive

i had an oil cooler seal explode on my a4 over the winter. oil filter was screwed directly onto the filter.

glad you found the leak though

the oring on my oil filter cap went bad causing this.Same thing happened to my M60 when I accidently put too much oil in it !

Oil was pouring out past that oil O-ring under the filler cap.... BIG TIME!
