My car is a black 96 328i sport pkg sedan. Gettin ready to order suspension and wheels pretty soon. I daily drive this about 300 miles a week, will have some weekend runs in the beautiful NC mountians.

The suspension I'm going with is H&R race springs and Bilstien sport shock/struts. (and all RSM/bushing upgrades etc)

As far as wheels go. I want a 17" wheel. Preferably at least 8.5" wide. I'm alright with rolling fenders, though I don't want to have to run a super stretched tire, have tons of wheel poke etc. I'd like an aggressive, yet functional wheel. Light weight etc.. Also, don't want to spend more than $1,100 for wheels alone.

I have come up with two wheels as of now.. the first is a tirerack brand (I assume).. 17x9 ET40. 16.3 lbs.

the second is the Enkie PF01 17x8.5 ET40 18 lbs.

Which do you think would look better? Or is there another wheel you would recommend around this spec & price??

Some other wheels you may want to consider are the Kosei K1, apex arc-8, D-Force LTW5, and used SSR wheels. All will be around the price you're trying to stay under and all are pretty light.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had K1's on my last e36 (signature). I looked at the arc-8's, but if I went with those they would have to be concave, at least the rears... which requires 18's. I went back and forth with myself a lot on those. I wasn't really feeling the D-Force LTW5's. I may look into some used SSR's though.

with an offset of 40, would a 17x9 fit with slight fender rolling up front? My concern is the tire grabbing/denting the fender in a hard turn.. I would like a slight stanced look, maybe even slight tire stretch. Something where the face of the wheel lip is almost flush with the outer fender before rolling. Get it out there as far as possible while still staying functional. I guess tire size would play a big role there. 225/45??? 235/40?? 215/40-45???

people feel free to add picture references with wheel/tire specs... a picture is worth 1000 words.
