Ok I'm a newbie so go easy on me. I went to change a rear wheel the other night on my 1998 328i. When I went to put it back on the bolts would not go back in. Looking at the axle the outer ring no longer alinged with the inner ring that has the threads. It looks like there is supposed to be a flay head type bolt that holds the assemblies together. It was easy enough to get my taper and get them realinged but would have been a pain on the road somewhere in the rain.

So wondering is this something I have to buy from BMW or is it a standard bolt I can pick up anywhere. I haven't pulled the other wheels to see if I need four or just the one yet.

TIA,

Bill R.

I assume you're talking about the rotor bolt. That can be purchased at any dealer, it's fairly inexpensive. For the cheap cost I'd just go to the dealer vs trying to find the exact thing at a hardware store.

The rotor screw just holds the rotor in place. They mainly just make it easier to locate the wheel bolts when reinstalling the wheels.

Any dealer or oem parts supplier has them. My local parts store actually carries them.
