I have a hairline fracture on the passenger side rim. I got a offer for repair. The guy said he can fix it for 100 dollars. Brand new rim will run about 230 on ebay.

I'm afraid that the balance and quaility of wheel is compromised with this repair. The guy said its not but :shifty.

Does anyone have experience with this?

I have seen wheel shops do some amazing things. However, for $130 more I would opt for peace of mind and get the new one.

I would not want to drive my car on the autobahn after I had a crack fixed on the rims

Most metallurgists will tell you that a weld is stronger than the native material....
