hey guys i just picked up a set of AC Schnitzer Type 2 wheels that are chrome plated. I AM NOT a fan of chrome on anything other than old muscle cars so it needs to go.
What methods do you recommend me using to refinish the wheels? Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Right now I am thinking I will sand blast and then powdercoat them. My only concern is that sand blasting will make the wheel too rough before paint.

I used to work at chrome plating place some years ago, as far as i remember they wouldn't even bother with re-chroming or stripping the chrome off, I think they have to be dipped in acid as there are multiple layers of nickle and chrome etc. I might be wrong tho :confused. Give these guys a call and just ask them about the chrome removal process 800-584-2832 (LA Wheel), they specialize in chroming OEM rims.
