Have not started my formal build thread yet for the forum, but behind the scenes, assembling the parts for it. Found a nice 95 525 Oxford Green/Pergament (correct me if I've got the terms wrong) from Florida with staggered M-Ps. Rust free, but not without its own set of issues to be resolved. Chief among them a bad evaporator, and some module somewhere is pulling down the diagnostic port's ability to be read for ANYthing.

Anyway, this part caught my eye as a pretty nice piece to either have BMP start manufacturing again, or for someone creative to put back into circulation.

I've asked them at BMP to see who made it originally, if they were purchasing it from someone else and reselling, and what opportunity there is to make another run of these. It is appealing to me since it also opens up two nice switch locations.

Granted the gauges are not up high and in the line of sight, but for some projects, especially turbo or swap as I'm proceeding with, this is still elegant.

If anyone has interest, and would commit to purchase at arbitrarily $200, please chime in, and maybe we can get a part back in circulation for our community.

** BMP confirms they were reselling Hartge parts on this one. May try and contact them direct. Anyone have a hook up with Hartge? Spoke with owner at BMP, Al, very helpful. Hartge stopped production many years ago, they finally sold out their stock.

Sorry for WOB. MODS can delete both these posts if they want to clean up.

Did a second search, the one in BFC failed, but google found a post here (go figure) leading to Parker Performance, and two viable options.

Thread in BFC even suggests owner will customize parts as requested to some extent.

You could always remove/relocate the fog light switch and put a PLX DM-200 in it's spot. I have a water temp gauge there now.

There isn't much information on my quick view search for that...but it looks pretty far from what belongs in an E34 interior, a bit flashy for my taste.

I'm trying to maintain the interior as close to a stockish, factoryish look as possible. Most certainly will have to put in a WB, but even that, I'm planning on having to put some tint on it so its not so gaudy. Also a display for watching knock and such, and switches for traction control on and off from the standalone etc...and wet/dry.

But thanks for the suggestion. I could use an AIM dash too, but again, just trying to keep a stock look.

I actually just bought this off ebay.

Will probably put this in the middle of one of the two Parker options, eventually use the input to go to a stock BMW radio. Believe CD53 can be hacked for this for ipod use?

Anyway, this will be nice, hoping they illuminate, if not will replace with proper ones that do. This way, when centered, I can put a WB O2 on one side, and it can be a slight mismatch to the gauge on the OTHER side, one that will be custom from J&S, knock detection and per-cylinder alerts.

Pretty neat part to come across, and with cell phones, garmins items like that including laptops that benefit from cig plugs, this is nicer than having an ugly ashtray open all the time.
