Sport wheel controls...

I just got a single stage sport wheel to be installed on my 99 740il. I was wondering if i can use the newer buttons from the dual stage wheel on my single stage wheel? Make sense?... Thanks in advanced!

Yes you can. The buttons did not change in the update.

I'm kinda confused (which is normal :) )...I don't understand...are you saying that your 3 spoke single stage steering wheel doesn't already have the buttons on them...or does it already have the buttons but you have another set from a dual stage s/wheel that are in better shape? And is your 99 740iL build date before 3/99?

My single stage 3 spoke steering wheel came with the MFL buttons already in them...did you perhaps buy a 3 spoke wheel from a 3 series instead of a 5 or Euro 7 series?

You can't put a single stage wheel where a dual stage wheel used to be. Right ???

The buttons wont be any problem but I dont think the single stage wheel will work on that car. Isnt the 1999 a duel stage car ??

Abeski`s e38 is a early 1999 740il which has the SINGLE stage airbag from factory. He is installing a 3 spoke steering wheel which is SIngle stage. His question is could he install the dual stage buttons on the stage 1 3 spoke steering wheel. "JOYLOVE" mentions that the radio and cruise control buttons wiring did NOT change from stage 1 to stage 2

nope.. 3/99 build and up e38`s are dual stage. My 7 is a 2000 740i built on 4/99 and came with Dual stage airbags.........1999 e38`s were small production and were all Single stage airbags even though they all have the facelift

1999 e38`s were built before 3/99...4/99 e38`s are considered 2000 e38`s

You can, by going to realOEM, finding the part number of the buttons, and doing a cross reference to see what years they are valid for.
