I've been debating on whether to get wider rims or not and i currently have 9.5s and 8.5s. before when i had stretched tires they never rubbed but ever since i put wider tires on it rubs every so often when i'm racing. I wanted to go even wider to maybe 10.5 or 11 but i was wondering if anyone knew would that be too much???

You run as wide as 275's on your 9.5" presumably rear wheels. That's more than sufficient for any application you may have. Going to 10.5 or 11" will result in fitment issues and be more tire than you can reasonably use even at extremes. I really doubt you can fit much more than 9.5" up front without rolling fenders or flares.

9.5 should be plenty for a 2.8

z3- i've heard of people fitting 11s on the back but they roll the fenders like hell, stretch the tires, and use spacers on damn near 0 offset
justin- it might be a 2.8 or a 3.0 but by the end of summer it'll be a whole lot more than most ;)

You are not going to improve performance with the wider wheels. You already are getting rubbing now. By goint to wider wheels and possible wider tires you are increasing unsprung weight. You are also not going to have enough horse power to work that much tire.
