Are the rims that come with the (car 530xi 18" sport package) only for runflats or can I mount a non runflat set on them?
Many Thanks

I'm sure the experts will confirm (I'm not one), but I haven't seen anything even remotely suggesting that run-flat tires require special rims that are different from regular rims (for non-run-flats). Most of the chatter I've seen about whether to mount non-run-flat tires on stock, run-flat rims seems to assume that stock rims will accommodate either type of tire. In other words, rims aren't an issue, so far as I know.

Thanks. That's what I thought but the dealership told me I had to mount run flats.

BMW OEM wheels are specially designed for runflats, they are labeled EH2 and have a 2nd lip that is supposed to keep the tire from peeling off when it is completely deflated. That being said, nothing about that prevents regular tires from being mounted, they are just a bit more difficult to put on due to that 2nd lip/hump. You can also put runflats in regular non EH2 wheels, but you lose their advantage in case of full pressure loss.

This is all true. Aside from being stranded when a tire goes flat, there is no downside to going with conventional tires rather than runflats. You'll save some money and have a lot better ride, which, to me, is worth it.
