Time for new tires. Trying to gather experience others have had with various tires, including BMW owners.
Currently, I have the Kumho Ecstas and they've been great. 245f/275r.
Recommendations? Suggestions?
I'm looking into these, I've heard great things from the MB community about these tires.

Thanks in advance.

Had some Rhino's on the E30 they are the best 10 bucks ive ever spent on tires.
Oh wait! AMG?
In all seriousness, P Zero Rosso.
A merc has enough sound proofing material to handle the road noise, so best fit would be that.
Had them on a M3 and performed superb for more than 15.000 miles.
Then one day they evaporated on a track day.
Literally evaporated.
I consider this the best fit for a heavy overpowered car.

New shoes for your feet? ;)
What are you looking for most in a tire?

You need to list some criteria of what you find is most important...
- grip?
- durability?
- road compliance?
- all season/summer tire?
- dual-duty with track?

Tread life/year round performance is key for me.
I'm not tracking the car and what not, so grip etc. isn't that important although considered for a spirited 25-80 WOT run.

Hankook Ventus RS-3 on my e36, the azenis are nice on my e21 as well but it is a much lighter car and you can tell they don't have the grip of the hankooks.
Edit: and I only have around 13k (no track days) on the RS-3s and they are almost to the wear bars.

Bang for the buck, Proxes 4's do it for me.

I have run the Yoko Advans on my RX7 and hated them, I felt they were a step backwards from my Falken Azenis.
I have also run Kumho MX's on my RX7 and they were right there with my Azenis for grip.
Do not expect to get more than 10K miles from any of the above mentioned tires, if you do any kind of spirited driving or AX's with them.
I keep hearing good things about the Hankook Extreme Summer Performance tire and I may try them next, I just hav a hard time leaving my beloved Azenis.
As for cold weather / wet weather. My last time on the Dragon with my Azenis tires on my RX7 it was wet out 32° ans snow flurries. I was really nervous but once I got about a mile or so of spirited driving into the tries they started to come alive and the grip was impressive when you considered the conditions.
Dry warmer weather? Yeah.... That is where they are amazing.
But to be honest, we are talking a heavy Mercedes here, I have heard the Azenis overheat and wash out on heavier cars so you might be better with something the M3 or 5 series guys are suggesting.

RE11's. Amazing tires. If you can spend 200+per tire, well worth it.
PS2's are up next since I haven't been able to try out that many tires. I can get cheap PS2's all the time so thats pretty much what I stick to.

I thought Star Specs got discontinued a year or so ago?
615's wear too fast for what he needs, plus they suck in rain when mildly worn.
When'd you get rid of the M5?

LingLong is not suitable with VR4, it's too weak. It's more suitable to Honda Jazz or a smaller car.

I have 235-45-17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires for my winter/fall tires.
They are by far the best tire I have ever used!
They perform and ride better than my 245-40-18 Bridgestone Re-760 summer tires, by far.
The Michelins give me confidence, Bridgestones definitely do not.
Best ive had was Bridgestone RE01R, but spending that kind of coin on tires is a waste for me.

I don't know if StarSpecs are strictly the best I've had, but I'm totally in love with them right now. For dry grip from a street tire it would be a tossup between them, NT05s, and maybe a set of Kumho MXs I had 5 or 6 years ago. Those MXs were grippy, but what an absurdly poor daily driving tire.
For best all-around I'd say probably F1GSD3s, though I think Goodyear has discontinued them now?
I'm not all that impressed with the v12s I just got, though they're probably not any better or worse than the Sumi HTRZIIIs I had awhile back. I considered those a pretty good tire for the money, so time will tell with the Hankooks.

have hankook evo v12s on my car. They look pretty good and the grip is certainly there.
I am at almost 10k miles on them and a few burnout/donut sessions and the rears still have plenty of life. The fronts have tons of life left, ever for being at -3.2 and -3 camber up front for 9k miles. camber is down in the mid -2s now and you can swap tires to make them last longer anyways.
These may be my new tire I stick with. Especially because I payed barely over 100 a tire. We will see if something else pops up when I need new tires or not

EDIT: oh you want long tread life. Nevermind.

hey Armo, if you're looking for all seasons you can consider:
Michelin PS A/S
Conti DWS A/S
BFG supersports A/S
Pirelli Pzero Nero A/S
Yoko N-Vigor A/S
Yoko Advan S4 or Avid WS4
I'm kinda partial to Michelins as they are a great all around tire and offer the longest treadwear. Contis are better in the rain and in the snow, but offer more mushy handling in the dry. You'll want to pump them up several lbs higher than what you usually run tires at. I also like the BFGs (owned by Michelin) but they seem to be slightly narrower than their indicated size and the treadwear is not as good as the michelins. They are, however, better in the dry (typical of BFGs).
The Pirellis are supposed to offer good all around performance too but I don't like the tread pattern (for the rain and snow). I had Yoko AVS U+4 awhile ago on our MB S class and loved those tires! I haven't tried any of the current yokos but N-vigor looks like it will wear well. The other two are also supposed to be good performers though I don't like the S4 tread (no channel out the sides). The WS4 can only be had in certain sizes but is a solid tire. I like the michelins and bfg's best especially because of the steering response. conti would be...3rd. Haven't tried the rest I mentioned. Good luck!

I ended up going with the General G-MAX AS-03 per the E55 community. Apparently, these tires have great all season performance, both dry and wet, and have a solid tread life rating.
The new shoes go on tomorrow, I'll report back my first impressions of the tires.

I like BFG KDW 2's and the Bridgestone Potenza line. I like to push my car so hard that all 4 tires screech, so a tire that can handle its balls off is extremely important to me.

The best tires I ever had were on a different car, briedgestone pole position.
I do not appreciate a quiet ride though. i would call these tires extremely noisy. they are in the performance, all season, ok tread life category and they are also carried by costco
The best tires on my bmw.... well theyre the falken 512s on there now. extremely good performance, mediocre all season and poor tread life. Terrible road noise.
Extremely cheap. Best tire for the money as far as close to summer/ rain tires.
I know for summer street tires though its dunlops. I saw them put on porsches at the tire shop at the end of spring. I cant remember the model, but everyone everywhere knows them
