what size tires?!

I've recently purchased new wheels and im curious as to what size tires i could run, i want some thing meaty but keep in mind this car is my daily driver. i was thinking perhaps a 265/40/17..? il need a little stretch to clear my quarters, howeer im not crazy about the whole stretching idea..so the least possible is better. wheel dimensions are 17x 8.5 fronts and 17x10 rear.

The measurement that determines the height of the sidewall and eventually affects the tire's height is the aspect ratio. A tire that has a lower sidewall will improve cornering because of its stiffness, however it makes for a rough ride. Another thing you should know is that if you make too big of a change in the aspect ratio you might not know your actual speed because it can confuse the speedometer reading.
