Hey ya'll. Ive been a long time lurker of this forum and decided to
Register finally! :D Ive owned an immaculate 86' E30, and just recently Picked
Up an even cleaner 1998 328i 5spd Sedan. Ive been considering the M50
Manifold swap for a bit now, car is completely stock besides some NGK's i
Just Threw in. All the DIY's are amazing. I know how to use the search function very well.
But heres my problem, The M50 manifold I am about to purchase is from a
92' 525i. 50$, Good cond. My only Concern is that will the M50
from the 5 series cars fit? Is it a harder swap? More beneficial, or is the 3 Series Manifold better for some reason? I have looked and connot find a thread on this specific manifold question.
Part Number Is: 1-735 730 2.5
All input is appreciated, Thanks!

Somebody confirm as well, but 5 and 3 series have the same manifold and engine. The only difference is the accessories and body style.
My 95 525i has a the same M50 engine and manifold as a 325i.

Dude, are you serious... Theres a search button that would return you all kind of great results - if you would use it.
Search: M50 Manifold, M50 Manifold swap, or google it.
Yes the manifold will fit the head, keep in mind the vacuum connections are completely different. Eric sells a good kit with even better instructions. I used the kit and it made installation a lot easier. Now, people will tell you the kit is a rip-off because you can do it yourself/make it yourself. What they usually don't take into consideration are the trips back and forth from the hardware store to find all the pieces + high price of Gasoline. Wait! One more catch! Do you have spare vehicle to make these trips?
With the m50 mani on the 2.8l you will achieve better high end power, a better engine sound and a good basis for future modifications. The 2.8l runners are, small, restrictive, and designed for more turbulence = better low end power. If you plan on continuing to tweak your engine such as; cams, tune, exhaust, FI. Then sure do the swap. But if you just plan on doing the swap and nothing else, I personally think its waste of $. M50 is good for track use or someone who likes keeping there revolutions per minute right above the end of the power band/red line.

Sorry 328i fun, I did And i read the entire OFFICIAL M50 Swap.
There was nothing really on this specificity. I read that part numbers ending in 730
were fine but i was just double checking since it would be coming off a 525i. Was
not entirely sure myself if engines were the same. I wanted To double check. No harm in That?
Erics kit is great, and hes a great guy from what ive read. He'll even get on the phone
with you from what ive read. And the low end tourque loss could barely be felt with ,say, tuning. I know exactly what to expect with this friend, and I know how to use the Search Function Very well, But thanks for your input.
And to everyone else, Thanks!
