I mean, sure none of US would do that to an M3, but keep in mind, the M3 appears in Need for Speed and other such games. Several of my friends (I'm 21) have suggested "drift" (read rice) mods. I'm sure there are plenty of people into this shit (as is evidenced by google search "rice car") so I'm sure for one of them this will be a steal. That mesh crap in the grills is worth like $500 or so and those lights have to be a one off job lol.... This car is worth like 10,000,000,000 yen or something lol

Hate to say it, but this isn't the most beat M3 I've seen this weekend. Picture that M3 above, but with a Kragen-style bolt-on wing, E46M3-"inspired" exhaust and 3.0 CS (not E46M3) style fender vents.

Remove mesh and altezza's. Burn with fire.
Remove fenders. Burn with fire and replace
Full inspection II and replace silly hot air intake.
Remove wheels. Burn with fire and replace with quality rubber and ds1's
Partially gut interior and revert car to auto-x or track duty.
Lastly, new m3 moldings

I'd offer him $3000 and then he can hand me back half for doing him a favor and taking it off his hands

Well, the price variance on M3's is pretty huge. Check BMW CCA, Enthusiast Auto, and a few other places for actual nice examples that can command a $16K-ish price tag. Those CL ones are meh and from 95, leter models usually command more.

I can get an M3 for 5 g's but it's beat to shit and really only worth the metal it's made of or I can spend 10K more and get a nice, no accident, maintained one.

While the US e36 M3 might not be something uber special or rare, it is more than the sum of it's parts. On paper it looks meh, but in real life it's great. Having owned both a 325 and a 328 from this era, I can for certain say the M3 is a superior car, even though it may not seem like it just by looking at the stats.

If we get down to it, any M car is just it's base series with some aero kit, M badges, different wheels, and an engine that often times is a derivative of the BMW NA engine.

Yes, the Euro e36 M3 had a better engine. But the US version was still tuned by the M division, it carries a "WBS" VIN, etc... Was it the best it could be? No, but it is a much better car than a regular e36 3er.
