Got a Call from the service department....

So I took my car in for Inspection II this morning and the service guy calls and says my Gibo (sp?) he pronounced it like "Gee bo" is going bad...WTF is a Gibo? Am I being taken for a ride here?

It's the guibo, a piece of hard rubber that goes between your transmission and driveshaft. They do wear out and crack and need to be replaced.

Do a search on the forum for "guibo"

He's probably not trying to screw you on this one.

How much do they want to change it? It is possible to DIY if you have some level of mechanical ability. A search on the forum should turn up at least one write-up on it.

$400. wow. I would call pacific BMW and get the part from them and do it yourself. I bet it will only cost you 1/4 of that.

i should have done that, too late now-oh well...i dont have the time to take on something like that anyhow.
