anything I should know about this car?
I love my 03 Mach 1 but miss my e36 328is

found a guy locally selling a blue 1986 BMW 535 sais it's in good condition, still have to go see it but it's cheap and would make a fun second car

got any pics of this beast in blue?
it's and e30 model right?
and what are the known problems with this car?

e28

problems: front shimmy under braking, fix with upgraded bushings. banjo bolts in head back out leading to oil starvation on the cam, upgraded parts avail. exhausts are absolute crap, no matter what you put on. low idle is usually cracked intake boot. coolant level sensors cause erroneoous warning lights.

Great cars, I've had an e28 88 535is for a looong time. Done just about everthing twice. Not super mileage, but for a larger car it sure scoots.

Coming from a 328 though, it's like a whole different car.

ya I found some pics, nice looking car
any idea if they are drivable in the snow?
it will be my winter / summer road trip car so I can keep the mileage low on the mach 1

I can get it for around $1000 can. or about 800 or so US
is that a good deal?

$800 in decent shape for a good 535i is cheap. For winter, try and find a Limited slip differential, either the stock 3.25LSD or one from an E30 325is in 3.73LSD.With four good Blizzak or similar snows,I went everywhere in one.

kudos to 5kEta for a good starting list to check for problems.

The E28's are an excellent value. 5keta did a good start on what I call "look-for's" - if you want a looooong list like that, compiled from many E28 experiences (mostly mine) drop me your e-mail.

The trick for snow is 4 *real* snow-tires, such as Blizzaks. They made my 540i/6 then our '88 Hartge 735i (stick) perfectly comported in the snow.

Lust my experience,
