Okay, so i've been searching EVERYWHERE and cant find any answers at all, and its starting to drive me crazy (to include going through every parts diagram i could think of on realoem) a couple of days ago, i changed out my front two o2 sensors, something i've been putting off for a while, it hopes it would help the ongoing rich running problem i've been having (strong strong fuel smell in exhaust and crankcase) which didnt seem to help at all. (and im really not confident that i got one of the two o2 sensors in tight enough, there was NO clearance to get at that thing.)

part two was the CCV, i've been thinking it could likely do with a bit of a cleaning, as i like to DIY everything possible, and after burning the crap out of my hands repeatedly, and eventually getting it out from under the manifold, and subsequently breaking the first two of the "tabs" trying to disassemble it, i decided to go ahead and put it back before i completely destroyed it, and just order a new one. Now the problem was the Throttle Body, when i was putting it back, my hand kind of slipped, and one of the bolts fell out of the sort of ... mounting plate .... thing ... around the TB. after an hour or so of searching, i gave up, as it was about 11:00pm and dark as hell. searched some more in the moring, couldnt find it, and needed to go to work, and figured 3 out of 4 bolds should keep anything huge from getting sucked into my intake manifold.

i've since decided that its apparently lost for good, and was going to buy another one, but i havent been able to find a part number ANYWHERE. i would just buy a correctly sized bolt from home depot or something, but if i remember correctly, the end of the bolt is narrower than the base, (or maybe it just wasnt threaded ?) so i dont know if that would work or not. I've spent literally 2 or 3 hours searching through realoem and havent been able to find any diagram with the TB on it ( i thought for sure it would be part of the intake manifold, but it wasnt) so i really, REALLY need some help here, as its really starting to drive me crazy driving around with my TB not as tight as it should be .... realistically, probably nothing is going to happen, but you never know ...

thanks in advance everyone, hope the weekend is going well for you all so far =)

The bolt is part #07119913714. It's an M6 if you go to a hardware store, and there's nothing special about it.

Right. Take out one of the survivors and go to a good hardware store, one with a nice metric assortment. Match it up.

You can try probing around with a magnet to see if you can locate the lost one.

youre my hero mpowered .... so an m6 is the right length, thread depth and everything ?

No. An M6 bolt designation simply means a standard 6mm diameter and thread pitch, with no indication of length. Take one of the remaining bolts to the hardware store and get another like it.

As far as "looking everywhere" goes, isn't it #10 here?

See: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BG93&mospid=47488&btnr=13_0368&hg=13&fg=15

The description says "M6x45," meaning the thread length is 45mm. "Z1" is the finish (plating), which you can ignore. If you can't find the 45mm length, try a 50mm. If that won't thread in completely, use extra washers under the bolt head.

in my defense, no, everywhere did not include the "fuel injection system" lol ... it included, exhaust, intake manifold, crankcase, pretty much everything except for fuel injection system, as i dont remember the throttle body actually having anything to do with fuel, so of course thats where it was ....

thanks a ton for the answer, you officially win, lol. and on a side note, i feel like an idiot right now for asking the "m6" question, which i should have already known the answer to. i'm now going to resume lurking till the collective forums forgets my stupidity.

Don't feel bad—none of use were born already knowing this stuff! And it takes a certain amount of experience and familiarity to get inside BMW's head and figure out how they like to categorize their parts.

BTW, franchise hardware stores like Ace or Do-it-Best carry very decent selections of metric fasteners, much better than you'll find at Home Depot or Menards.
