So I recently laid my hands on a set of staggered Contours to replace the 16's my '97 328 currently sits on. I am going to refinish them with powder coat a few shades darker than stock to make them pop a little more against the Artic Silver of the car. I was thinking about doing the outside lip of the rims either a very dark grey or black and then clear coating the whole thing but I don't want it too look too busy. Any thoughts on whether this is too much or over the top? They are OEM Contours so I want to maintain a very classy appearance.

I think it's quite tasteful not gaudy like some combination's i have seen.

Actually I was thinking the photo negative sort of. The centers would be a gun metal grey just a tda darker than the car and then the outer rim would be a dark grey or black. If anyone has seen this done and has pics please post. I did some homework on google images but came up blank.

So I ended up painting them instead as I could not find any powder coat that I liked well enough. Got them done just in time to get them on the car and roll to Bimmerfest east on Saturday. Not the best pic as it is from my iPhone but here it is, still need some Bilstein coilovers but the wheels were a step in the right direction.

Looks pretty similar to the color of my m5s. I dig it.

I agonized over the color to choose. I wanted the color on the 2010 E90 M3 rims but apparently that color is more closely guarded than Fort Knox for whatever reason so we found a Porsche color that was very close and used that instead. Very happy with how it turned out though! Next is to get hose tires stuffed a little further into the wheel wells with some Bilstein coilovers...muwahahahahah!
