I have zero air coming out of my vents. How do I tell if I need to replace my blower motor or FSU? Can I test these parts somehow?

Fired up the car this evening and the vents blew air. Completely stumped. :help Could this be a temperature related thing? It was near 100 degrees yesterday, but today it was in the mid 70s.

do a search; there's a big final stage unit thread. There are a couple of wires you can temporarily jumper to see if the blower turns on. If it does, then you should replace the FSU first. if it does not, then get ready for a PITA job.

In my case, I replaced the FSU and the AC worked temporarily for about 2 weeks; then the blower went out for good. :(

If it's the blower motor, replacement is not difficult if you get one with removable fan wheels. Difficult if the fan wheels cannot be removed.

If your blower doesn't run on any speed it will be the blower. Position 4 is actually a direct line to the blower.
Look at it this way. Your 95 is aged and needs parts. This is one that takes time but can be replaced in a day.
I would use Dougs Domain write up and I hate to tell you this but the toughest part of the whole job is removing the wiper arms followed by the wiper arm assembly. Once you do that you can remove the assemblies and get the old motor out and new in.

Don't be fooled that the motor spins. It means nothing. Your brushes and greaseless bearings are most likely toast.

fyi, I bought the non-oem blower motor from azautohaus or autohausaz (whatever it is called) and it had the removable cages. It was hundreds less expensive than the oem unit. Good luck.

It's actually a 98 M3 with digital climate control. The blower responds to different speeds and has been working perfectly all day. Its just that it didn't work at ALL for one day and went to completely functional the next.
