So I just got a new 2011 328xi coupe. I got a check gas cap light 2 nights ago. Got it again the next morning and then the check engine light has been on. This is my first BMW and from what I was told it's prob air in the system from not good seal on gas cap. That light went away but the check engine light been on for a day. Should I wait it out or bring it in? Anyone experience this?

it's under warranty, take it in... why on earth would you "wait it out" and drive around with a fault?

Either way I'm waiting it out. I need a loaner and none are available til the 17th. The dealership is 40 mins away from my house I don't need to go there and they have to keep the car and I'm stuck. If you read my post, it was mentioned that sometimes if the gas cap is secures properly it can cause it.

If it is just a cap that was not tightened, then the check engine light will clear out after a some number of restarts without a fault reoccuring. There is no harm in driving it for a few days since the CEL is just emissions related and will not do any harm to your car. The best advice is to call your dealer and schedule an appointment say 5 days from now, and then if the fault clears itself, then you can cancel the appointment. However, if it flip flops on/off, then definitely take it in, the system may have a leak or as you say the gas cap may be faulty.

Common problem with all new BMW's. The manufacture that is making the (DMTL pumps). Which is used to test the evaporative emission system. Is having huge problems with there products.
Take the vehicle in, Most likely will need a new DMTL pump.
