I've done brakes on many cars but never on a BMW.

Rear brake service light just came on and I got an awfully high price from the deaker ~$600, so I want to attempt to do it myself.

I'm thinking about buying the StopTech pads & rotors from JLevi, sensors from the dealer and putting them on myself. I found the FAQ thread to reset the service indicator. So, I got two stupid questions:

1) Do I need to bleed the brakes?
2) Will I need a brake flush?

I've managed to do many pad/rotor replacements and never had to do a bleed. Be sure to check the reservoir to make sure it doesn't over-flow and siphon out any extra.

You need a flush every two years; has nothing to do with changing the pads.

Note that rear rotors on BMWs are actually more expensive than the fronts, due to the e-brake's drum which is incorporated into it. Also a little finicky to get the shoes into sometimes.

Good luck.
