Guys, im new to e39 540, i own a M3 and am thinking of getting a 540 98or 99, im wonderia the differance between a 540 I and 540IA?

IA is an automatic. i'd opt for the 6 speed if i were you. good luck with the purchase. :D

pardon my ingnorance, but what does the "I" stand for, and is there any thing that would tell me its a sport without seeing the car, Also i am only gonna get a 6sp.

I think 6speed is only sport.

Good question! I wonder that too. I assume the I in the 330i,325i etc means the Inline 6cylinder. But since the 540 is a V8, why the I? Brand familiarity?
