I posted this already in the audio section but it may help in here as well because most of you own the car :) and may help me find a solution faster.
Anyway, here it is...
I have a 99 E39 wagon w/o DSP.
Me and a friend was working on installing a sub. We removed the stock one and putting in a kicker L7. So we got the sub and amp wired up and after we were all done..the stock amp got fried :mad.
We are not sure what happen. My friend does car audio install and this was done at his work...but he couldnt figure out what was wrong. He apparently tapped the stock amp harness for the sub out line. Hooked up a RCA adapter and ran it to the amp. I should include also that the subwoofer (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1663125#) is tapped into the stock sub harness as well. Any help as to what may have happened here? Those are the only 2 places where we messed w/ stock wiring.
Im thinking now that i should get a 4ch amp to replace the stock one but i read that i will need some crossovers for the front and rear speakers, or get another stock amp...any input as to what happen? and what i can do?
THANKS!
