The transmission arrived today for my 1997 540i.....just curious if anyone has a detailed write up on the removal and installation....its a zf automatic 5 spd...production date 2-97....

Get the Bentley E39 Service Manual. There's a writeup in there. The TIS, often available on ebaY, also has a procedure.

i figured but i have come this far and cant seem to talk myself into choking up the $100 for the manuel
