...hope you don't mind!

So I work at dealership and we got this 2000 740i sport as a trade in and I got this wild idea in my head. I asked my boss if I could trade wheels, since I already had 18s I could just change out the tires and the sales dept would have some decent aftermarket wheels to help sell the car. I got the approval to do the swap but had to wait for the car to clear (owners loan approved for the new car). Finally yesterday after waiting two months! I got the ok and spent a couple hours after work swapping tires. Anyways for the price of free, here is my new to me set of 8x18 and 9.5x18 on 245/40 18. Note, once it's time for new tire I'd like to go wider in the rear and something a little more fitting for the front.

They are good 10 footers, need a proper cleaning though and maybe machining the lips. But for free, I'm pleased to be rid of the ricer wheels!

This exemplifies how wonderful the E34 looks WITHOUT shadowline.

Haha! You should see the crap wheels they put on used cars to sell! Our used car manager was stoked!! Not to sound racist, but they cater to our area.... Besides, the 740 has 233k and is in rough shape! And yes those wheels were horrible and so not my style. Glad to blend in now =) I do like the look without out shadow line, may just hold off on doing that for a little longer.

Your boss needs to lose his job if he let that deal fly. Good for you, very, very bad for the E38 sport that now has to get sold WITHOUT it's proper compliment.

Looks awesome.
I love how there are so many morons out there that think OEM wheels are crap.

Haha why? The 740 is ready for pick n pull! Might as well put some of it to good use.

Try that, it's the first post of a thread he did about his wheels not too long ago.

Yup! It's on the todo list but I really want to get that 3.15 lsd first. My stock suspension is still pretty tight so I'll hold out on that and get the needed stuff out of the way first, like my weak battery and whining alternator.

Did you change over the tires? I discovered that the e38 tires are a bit bigger than e34, so the front ones did not fit at all.

Sure did, the tires on the e38 were junk anyways. It was a lot of work for a guy who doesn't do tires for a living! I had to remove 9 tires (spare) and mount 8. I'm running some Michelin all seasons which are ok but I can't wait to get some proper rubber.

Wait wait - this means you got all 5 stock M-pars for the price of your old nasty wheels and whatever spare was there (assuming the 15" weave or style 5)?? Talk about a steal...you criminal. :shifty

this is one bandwagon that you can jump on at any time and still get respect from pretty much any bmw owner, no one is going to say m-pars was a bad idea

Good to know, I've always loved them ever since I was originally looking for 540s back in 2006.

I opted to keep my original spare, couldn't bring myself to give it up. Maybe I should have snagged the 5th one too but I didn't want to leave that car without a spare. Now I'm thinking, if they're just going to wholesell the car, who cares!

If you can still snag the matching 5th wheel for the spare, do it. Especially if they're going to dump the car wholesale and don't care. My $.02
