View Full Version : Burning smell when AC switch comes on. HELP!!

Hello family. I was riding down the road with the ac on and the a burning smell started to come thru the vents. Then it stop blowing all together, Any ideas of what it could be? Help needed.....

blower motor or resistor depending on what speed you had it blowing. if it was on full blast it was probably the motor.
The burning its probably leaf debris in the air box being heated by the resistor...
I have this same thing happening . The blower will shut off when on any speed other than High.. Resistor is found to the above right of the accelerator pedal behind the fabric panel. Pull it out,pull the connector off and push in the new one then push on the connector..
Oh wait.. '92? Swod?

It is a 92. I will check it out and see how I can get it fixed.

Pretty sure by '92 the sword was gone.
Look where Jehu said. It will be a blue plastic bit for the connection. Replacements are easy and inexpensive. The resistor is simply a bunch of resistance wire coils(fire starters) of different gauges. Open up the airbox from the other side also, see "micro filter change" and get all the debris out while you are doing this.
There are more than a few instances of cars burning to the ground over this.
The blower motors will make deafening screeches before they finally die and burn up.
