I have a May 2007 Bmw 328i with the USB ipod connectivity. We bought the car used and everything worked fine. The USB stopped working (when we would try to select it, it would say "error" below the USB selector on the radio display). After taking it to the dealership, they said they replaced the USB port and everything worked fine. Got it home and checked it, and it was still broken, but not just saying "error", it was saying "empty" under the USB icon on the display.
Took it to a DIFFERENT BMW dealership to have it fixed again, and they said it worked fine and sold me a $60 BMW "Y" cable that plugs into the iPod, and then on the other end has two plugs, one for USB and one for AUX jack. The dealership told me the cord fixed the problem and it worked fine. I then noticed that the music was not coming in through the USB, becausee none of my playlists etc were showing up on my display.
So I took it to the dealership again last week, and they said they ended up replacing the plug again, and now the USB and the AUX have to be plugged in at the same time using that "y" cable, and my white ipod cord that came with the phone still does not work. I do not like using the BMW cord because it is only about 10 inches long and it is inconvienent to use while driving, and it is too short to hand over to the passenger.
Has anyone else had this problem? I just do not understand why TWO BMW dealerships could not fix it, and ALL I WANT IS FOR IT TO WORK CORRECTLY LIKE IT USED TO!!!!\
does anyone have any pointers???
