I know this doesn't sound safe at all, but does anyone know a way around getting the screen to show a movie that you are playing on the dvd player while you are driving (for the passenger of course). Also, it seems that all dvds that I play on there are really low on volume.

Actually its much easier than you think, go to autozone and pick up a small toggle switch and connect the parking brake wire to one terminal, and ground the second one, mount the switch and simply flick it up and down and there you go. This is called a "bypass"

Do you know if that will turn the parking brake light on? My car actually also shuts it off if I am in motion even when the parking brake is applied.

ive done it on several, im not sure what brand of headunit you have but its usually the purple wire, and it should be labeled parking brake remote use that wire and a ground and thats all. I may be wrong for your type of radio.

So you have not done it on this car? I doubt BMW's security measures are that simplistic, there usually have many more checks and balances.
