I've been looking at getting an AFE Stage 2 air intake for my 325i. I was also checking out a K&N air filter, since it's only $50. My car has 106k miles though, and I've heard that i should stay away from engine modding. What do you all think about this? I want to get more out of my car, and this seems like a relatively easy way to.

After all the research I have done, I just threw a K&N in and called it a day. From everything I have read, a CAI won't give our cars anymore performance. I did cut that second paper filter out of my air box though.....

Wish I would have read this sooner I would have gave you the K&N, pretty new maybe 10k miles if that and all you would have to pay is shipping. Have some E90 328 parts left over and need them out of my garage

Oh well. They aren't that expensive anyways, but I appreciate the thought! What parts do you have left over? I'm looking for a lot of stuff at the moment.

Nothing lol just OEM parts. If the dealer still has the car I can get the AfE intake and swap everything out. Should have done that when I traded it in but it was mothers day and wife was starting to get pissy because we were at the dealer all day.
I have a OEM air intake, OEM front headlight assembly, OEM muffler and a 16" OEM wheel w/ RFT ( just one) could make a good spare has good tread on it as well.

hows that knN filter working out? any difference from stock?
Just installed a factory HP air intake & filter on my 2011 328i. Can't really tell a difference in actual performance but the sound is good on hard acceleration. Next mod planned is factory HP exhaust. =)

When I ran the K&N I did see a slight increase in MPG. The real benifit is never having to replace your air filter, just clean it occasionanly. These cars are designed with a CAI already, often by installing a after market CAI you are doing more harm than good. BMW spends good money on engineering and development and these cars are designed alot better than your average civic or usual American POS not much room for improvement until you get into performance chips and turbo setups.

Where is the best place to order one online? I've been looking at modbargains.com and it seems pretty reputable. What sites do you all use?

depends on what you are looking for.
JLevi is awesome and Umnitza is good as well
When it comes to cosmetic and performance JLevi will probably be your best bet, lighting I would go with Umnitza. Both have great customer service however Umnitza often gets busy as hell since they tend to all makes and models of cars. Pricing is all gonna be about the same no matter who you go with, what it really comes down to is customer service and the knowledge the company's staff holds
Dinan, TMS BravoAuto are also some great vendors (never ordered from them but heard good) also for OEM parts look into RealOEM.com
OP just FYI I still have that K&N, I sent MikeSS a PM asking him he wants it but if he say no then your more than welcome to it. Im doing a huge garage cleaning come the weekend in which case if I still have it laying around its going in the trash.
