So my driver side-left cup holder got stuck in the "in" position. So I took the car apart, really simple to do and took the cup holder completely apart. It has this little metal band thing that connects towards the front of the door opening. Well on mine it won't hold the T-shaped end. It just keeps snapping back. Any ideas to get it to stay or other clever james bond adaptations so I can have a functional cup holder without spending over $50 for a new cup holder?
Thanks.

Well why I was trying to fix the metal clip piece. It broke. But I figured out that I could just tie a bread tie around the front of my pull out door of the cup holder and that way I can still pull it out myself after it gets stuck pushing it back in. Not the cleanest fix but it works. Plus since I'm not keeping the car much longer it doesn't matter if its still broke.

In case any of you out there are still dealing with this issue....
I purchased a 328xi the other day from a guy who took out the cup holders, and removed the springs because he thought they were keeping the cup holders closed. SMH.
Anyhow, I can't fix the cupholder because they no longer have springs!
Cue solution....
I am pretty sure that this link below is to the "constant force spring" that is used inside of an e90 cupholder.

I hope this works!

Hey - my spring broke as well and the link you provided is broken. Does anyone else know where to buy just the spring in the cupholder?

You can’t unless you can match it up otherwise it’s the whole thing
