I am looking at trying to purchase tuning software for my 97 328is. I BELIEVE it's a plug-in only setup, but I could be wrong, those are simply all I've seen. Any heads-up for reasonably priced stuff would be appreciated. I will also consider offers on other simple performance parts. Thanks!

i am selling a tec3r with complete obd2 harness (would fit right on your m52). This is a standalone ecu which would allow you to tune the engine however you want and for any setup you want with a laptop via serial cable.
Currently it is running my 328is with m52 that I have turbocharged..
asking $1500obo

Sounds nice, but that's pretty damn far from my price range lol. I'm basically trying to nickel-and-dime my way up, little bits of hp/torque at a time until I can afford to go balls-out. Bought it stock like a month ago, all I've done so far is put a K&N cone on it. Thanks though!

Self tuning software doens't exist.

Not nessisarily, but people like coforti make nice tunes that, for the M52, are plug in as opposed to chips.

If you're looking for a tune then yes, you can buy pre-made tunes for your car. Your car is OBD2, it's not chippable. All OBD2 BMW tunes are flash tunes. Software to tune yourself though, does not exist.

Exactly. I've heard rumor that one might be able to obtain new tunes in the event of, say, M3 cams and an M50 manifold swap, but that's fairly far removed from where I am in my build, so it's not a worry.

You can get off the shelf tunes for certain mods, or you can get custom tunes. Be prepared to get your wallet out for custom tunes though.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. Like 1500 bucks for the aforementioned tuning software... Yikes. They probably make a great difference, but I'm not looking to build the car for anyone else, I just want to have a lot of fun and revel in being able to kill my friend's M52 time and time again haha
