Soo, who else has had this issue?

I was going skiing, stopped in to the gas station, left and it wouldn't shift out of 1st and into any other gear. Stopped, turned it off, restarted and then it shifted. Very rough though.
By the time we took it to the stealer ti was shifting very sloppy and popping out of 2nd the odd time.
Apparantly when a bearing lets go if eats up the bits in there pretty good.
No hassles- a new tranny was installed with no questions, under warranty.
The quick service and no questions attitude promped me to think it may be a common failure.

Julie and I still love the Mini though. It's the next best thing to a full fledged bimmer! (Better depending on the model)

Is that a Cooper S? Last I read was that the 5 speeds in the Cooper had a high failure rate. The 6 speeds were OK. The 5 speeds are going to get Getrags as are the 6 speeds.

I had my tranny replaced as well for similar problems. I've got the 5 speed regular Cooper.

My 02 Cooper had a synchro fail for the 1st-2nd gear change. Take it in to the dealer and they will replace the entire unit.
