Just wondering if it makes a difference?

No, they are only for differences in pressure.

I think *bling* factor for the shiny metal ones. They work the same.

I have shiny metal ones...

They don't last long because people like them so much that they borrow them from your wheels without asking you first :)

I use the super short motorcycle valves. I think they look cleaner being so small

i would stick with rubber. when i had metal ones they were always stolen by people who either didn't speak english or wear afros and braids.

how did they steal the metal valve stems? there's at least one mounting nut on the inside of the rim right?

maybe people confusing stems with caps here :p
the rubber stems can fail with age and speed, porsche used to mount these little metal stem splints to prevent this. mostly for race car use though. I like the short metal stems, some of them are like flush mount even. as long as the caps have the rubber o-ring and you can fill it's all good!
