I bought the 3 piece drain plug socket set from bavauto. It comes with 10mm, 14mm and 17mm. Supposedly this covers many of the drain plugs for our cars. Try a 10mm if you have it. When i did mine i remember it being a 14mm. Unless yours was replaced at some point with a non-stock plug.

Well, I did the diff fluid last fall, but I do remember mine being 14mm. That said, I have a large case diff, maybe that makes a difference?

I used the head of a bolt to remove mine as I had no socket. Try that.

Really? Wow. I just been to every hardware store and auto parts store I can't find shit! Sears wants 40 bucks for one dam key!

I changed my diff fluid last week. It was 14mm hex. But model year and diff may vary. I picked up 12mm, 14mm, 17mm hex socket kit at Autozone for $10.

Dam my auto zone had a kit that went up to 10, and a 17mm...maybe the advanced auto...how did you squeeze the fluid into the full area? You added a tube to the end of the bottle I'm assuming correct?

Yeah, i welded a nut on the other side so I had a grip. There you go, brand new hex tool. Cheapest way. And it works fine.

Using a gear lube pump. Picked this up at Menards for $4. Works great and it fits standard gear oil bottle perfectly. You can find it in marine shop or auto parts store. I had to cut the 14mm hex socket and used 14mm wrench because of the limited space behind the diff. See photo 2 & 3. Sorry for the bad photos, took pics from phone.

Also, another source for the key set (10, 14, and 17mm socket keys) is Harbor Freight if you have one near you. I got a kit that had those 3 and several smallers ones also, all for $10. Check that out. And on the socket not fitting, I ran into that also. What I did was push the 14mm key out of the socket base, then just used a box end wrench on it, just like Jungerishere above. Worked like a charm.
