View Full Version : Thinking of buying a 2010 535i that has had 3 Fuel Pumps (HPFP) replaced

I have the opportunity to buy a 2010 535i with 22k miles for $35,000. The fuel pump (HPFP) has been replaced at least twice and possibly a third time. It also appears BMW bought it back.

It went through auction and I would be buying it from a used car lot. It is has a manual transmission, which is the reason I am interested in it.

The price seems great but will this be a problem forever? Has BMW solved this problem? I have read about other people's problems with the fuel pump in other forums but can't get a feel for the real possibility that this car could be a problem forever or could turn out fine.

I would also be happy with a 528 but not sure I would find one at this price and miles. I appreciate any thoughts on the price and the problem.

Sounds like a good price, but if it was bought back it's going to reflect that on the history of the car going forward. Something to consider...
