My project of this weekend: fitting a wide spraying windshield washing nozzle on the hood of the E34.
:redspot
Here is a video of my find and customised installation ('scuse my French Canadian accent:) ). In short: a major sweet upgrade for little money! Albeit, delete the heating aspect of the BMW nozzle. Oh well! Win some, loose some, but maybe it won't be terrible. Next winter will tell.

Video of the installed sprayer results:

Also, here is the link to a PDF file I made with instructions on how I installed it and the parts I used. I had spare plastic sheets I used to make an adapter.

Although I used two different plastic sheet types with different thicknesses, I think you could stick to the same thickness sheet for all parts.

The product I found at Canadian Tire is called Super Sprayer, distributed by Enseng (H.K) Limited, and bares no. 26108.

Enjoy, eh!

Spray pattern is very nice. :thumbup:for ingenuity. It's a bit chilly up there in Quebec, hope it stands up to the cold.

I'm not sure if you have them in Canada but the later model Toyota Hilux's in Australia are fitted with a washer nozzle that has the same spray pattern as that. Could be another option for you.

We retrofit them into our Prado's here in Aus... Huge difference when you are offoading...

You can chip the paint off your hood removing your current washer nozzle if you push it out from the underside....no need to ask why I know that. :mad

It is next to impossible to do otherwise, so take that into consideration.

Ford has used a nozzle that also produces that type of wide splatter pattern as the water flow switched between different paths.

What was the cost of the "super sprayer?"

The "Super Sprayer" cost me $12 CAD ($10-11 US). This is everything included with it in the pic. And I wound up using everything (extension tubes). No clamps included, though everything is holding quite well.

I had to cut a bit of the tubing of the car to make it fit because it had expanded from the previous nozzle.

I really like that you can carry an adjustment tool on your keychain.

Elekta is right, you can damage the hood. One of the nozzles I took out was actually damaged, I can't figure out why, and taking it out required damaging it further. So I think I slightly bent a bit of the hood.

as we are talking about the subject windshield cleaning, what is the latest recommendation for wipers here on the forum?
Anyone modified them? On the E32 some people cut off on one side the U-bracket from the wiper arm and rewelded it the other way round to use more varieties of wipers.

One of my first projects was reversing the wiper. After this I knew I was able to replace the engine.

This is the first iteration. I cut it, reversed the hook, welded it, sanded it, painted it. My additional touch was adding my airfoil from my old 745 euro wiper. Since the second pic I have adjusted the pass wiper, now that it doesn't rub on the hood anymore.
