Not sure if this is a repost but enjoy.
The cars involved are:
Porsche Boxster
Honda S2000
BMW E46 M3
Nissan 350Z
Nissan Skyline GT-R (camera car)
Before you watch, please vote as to which car you think would win. I'm just curious as to what you all think. ;)

Well, it should be a DEFINITE no contest with the M3, but I haven't seen it yet.

That is definite BS. There's no way the 350z beats an M-fing-3 around the track...

I bet if other cars weren't on the track and they timed the cars individually, the E46 M3 would win.

The Z and the S2K drivers were laying it out there. The M3 driver was too safe...hell he should have been in at least second on the first corner of the race. He was driving it like he'd have to pay for any repairs.
The Porsche just didn't belong, it was funny near the end of the race when he started talking about the interior of the car being nice and it being a chick magnet.

lol the special footage at the end was just like watching initial d in real life. And that skyline was in the way and i thought m3's walked all over 350z's?

That video was bull! The M3 should have dominated! That driver was not agressive at all! That track could BARELY fit 2 cars side by side, that didn't help at all.

Yeah, I saw that too. But I still would think the E46 M3 would have dominated in terms of lap time as well. It only beat the Z by 0.32 seconds! I heard that the S2000 and M3 (E36) are equivalent as well. They're only 0.09 seconds apart here.
I would seriously think that the E46 would kill.
How do you guys think an E36 M3 would do?

the skyline would crush any of them, as you could see(underrated 270hp and AWD). It was kinda weak that he jumped out on everybody, almost like a pace car, he should have stayed behind being the camera car and all.
I hope nobody voted for the boxter that thing is a piece, it shouldn't be a porsche.
I wonder if this was sponsored by nissan?

i was guessing it was a nissan sponsored thing too. M3 owns the Z in every way. but regardless id take any of the 4 if given to me for a joy ride around the track =P

I hate to say this (no I don't), but Best Motoring is can be HEAVILY biased against non-Japanese cars. Sometimes, it's quite silly how biased they are.
We have that DVD at work, along just about every other episode of Best Motoring on DVD and VHS. Great stuff if you're into Japanese cars, great drivers, and they are quite funny at times. But don't put too much stock into the comparos that include non-Japanese cars.

Wonderful flick with some fancy driving, but the outcome is a joke.
If an E36 M3 can easily hang with the 350Z, then the E46 M3 should have smoked it. With different drivers and approach schemes, it is a biased comparison at best...
I'd rather see one very skilled driver, equally versed on all four platforms, run a time trial on the same track, then compare the results.

Would that skyline really beat the M3 around the track? I know that they've got a nice AWD system and 270 or 280HP, but is that enough? (I guess it's probably lighter than the E46 though.)

no way that race was biased. the only thing missing was a Dragonball Z battle

Actually, I believe,
The GTR is a twin turbo version of the R34. The bone stock R34 makes 270. I don't remember what the GT-R puts down. Hence, when the GT-R moves to the side of the Z and blows by, that's not 270 hp making it move like that.
The M3 would come in second to an R34 GT-R, but the GT-R was just a camera car anyway. Still though, it really acted as a blocking car for the 350Z.
Overall, the M3 would win against everything except the "camera car" skyline GT-R
