Hi guys. Was thinking of running 225/45/17 fronts and 255/40/17 rears on my style 5's to change em up a bit. All the rims are the square set up of 17x8. Anyone have any pics of what it looks like on their e39?
Thanks!

Nice wheels.
I guess you could run those sizes...
Check on 1010tires.com to make sure the overall outside diameter doesn't go more than 3%.
You want as close to 25.4" O.D. as possible (235-45-17 OEM size).

You want to run staggered tires with a 30mm size disparity on a square setup?
You dont get proper performance of a correct staggered setup
and
You dont get the "stance" look
So I must ask - why would you want this?
It will look silly, you wont have ideal contact patches so your handling will not be ideal, theres really no point to this at all.

Uhh no. Just run a square tire setup. That or just buy a staggered set of wheels.

Easy guys, I know opinions are like a&^%)*es, everyone has one. And I'm expressing mine :nono I'm not autoX the car, its the wifes car. I was just wondering aesthetically how it would look. I don't need to get some staggered rims as I have 2 sets sitting here as well. Just wanted to change up the look a bit as I own a tire shop and have different sizes readily available.
Again guys, just wanted some pics ;)

This isnt my world? To what extent? Do I not exist? Perhaps I live on a different dimensional plane than the rest of you?
Maybe in your dimension, stretched front tires and bulging rear tires look good. In my world - which until now I was quite sure was the same world everyone else lived in - beauty depends on how things look when a person is sober.
I doubt you will find ANY pics of ANY car running staggered tires on a square setup. I think that is one of the few things that would get one shunned from the automotive universe, regardless of what car one has. :shifty
I mean seriously you own a tire shop and want to do this? :rolleyes

Blackxs is right. If you have a square set up, keep the tire configuration the same. From a dynamic stand point, on a 50/50 weight distribution, this will give you a well-balanced car.
Good Luck!

Listen guy, I don't sit here talking shit about what you want to do to any of your vehicles. I have customers that run 255/40/17 on all 4 corners on these rims but I haven't seen what staggered looks like. All I wanted to see is a pic or two, that's all. Damn...

Rim width range for 255's - 8.5-10"

Yeah, you're kind of pushing what you can mount. It will look about the same as a setup with staggered rims, but the sidewall will roll over a bit in the rear.

No worries. I ran 235/45 on all 4....

OP, those rims are GOJUS! Dang, makes me think my M-Pars "aren't" all that.... lol.
btw, i'd keep em all the same size tires. keep it conservative and tasteful as i'm sure you'll ultimately do as you are in the "business".
as a personal aside, i always thought running the fattest possible tires on a wheel was kinda silly. Everybody has they're opinion but i wouldn't go farther than a "plus0". One size wider, or two in the width if that's necessary to match the aspect ratio and/or keep the overall wheel in spec diameter.

run 235/40 if you're lowered. 235/45 if your oem nonsport or sport. Its as easy as that. IF you really want wider tires. run 245/40s but I would NOT put 255's on 8 inch wide wheels. If you have customers that run 255/40/17 shouldn't you know what they look like?
Stupid thread except for the nice wheels you posted.

+2
Keep it square. Your car will handle much more predictably.

Since it's the wifes car... I'd do a square 245 setup. Lol
Had my wife curb too many wheels.
