First of all, I may be joining the 6er family soon, check out this thread: http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=161736

That being said; I am looking for any info on repair, maint, mods, advice, etc that can be offered on a 633/635

Thanks

SAW the car on the thread, looks nice, What year is it? How many miles on the chassis total? Wheels look good, are there any mods to the engine? etc. That is my favorite color of interior by the way - My first E28 528e had that color W/ polaris exterior. pretty..

The car is actually a 84 body (633) and when the engine was rebuilt, it was rebuilt with/to 635 parts/specs.
I am getting more detailed info on this rebuild in the few days, so I will know exactly what the deal is.

200K on chassis, 80K on the motor.

2 owner car, with the current owner driving it for the past 12 years.
He works in the automotive paint industry, and had the car totally taken down (glass/chrome/engine bay[during the rebuild]/etc) and repainted. As you can see, it looks like a first rate job.

The car is in Ohio, which was not driven during winter months.

How do you like your M6?
I emailed you awhile back, when I was thinking about buying your 633.
What should I look into as far as engine/performance mods?
Im thinking:
Chip
Headers
Exhaust
SSK
Is an intake a good idea on these motor?

INtakes are OK - but you've got to create a heat shield to keep the exhaust heat away - our intakes are pretty good CAI's as they are, a big bore throttle body and cone filter W? a "heat shield box" around it would yield marginal results.

Love, absolutely LOVE my M6 - stumbling across it is the only reason I'm selling the 633, otherwise, I'd be keeping it.

Chip, headers, exhaust will definately help the car out, If/when you have the cash, I'd look at a TCD turbo kit for it - they are producing bolt on turbo kits for these motors that'll make M killers out of them. For an idea of what you can do with these blocks - just see E34Biturbo's Cardomain site on his 89 535. it's the same block, W/ a custom rebuild job and all the goodies you could ask for - he gets about 600 RWHP!!!

Nice find on that one- Good looking car.

Looks and sounds like a very good and well taken care of e24 car.
But,check a few things if you think upgrading is easy. The normal 635csi takes upgrades a 633 won't;for instance,if the car still runs the 633 engine management system,it won't take a chip. You have no ABS system, and later big brake systems are harder to install and use.
The best way to increase power is probably to change the rear ratio,as the 633 usually ran a 3.07/3.25,while the 635 used a 3.45,which should be switched out for a 3.73 or 3.90 ratio if you really want more power without having to add Todd's almost completed 3.5L Turbo system.Keep in mind that the TCD turbo is for the 3.5L motronic engine system, but can,I think, be adapted.Ask him.
Car looks like a good opportunity.

I hate to nit-pick, but the 84 633's will take a chip - they've got the same engine management system that the 85-87 635's had for the most part. It boils down to what production base was used, whether E12 based (the 6ers through mid 82 production date were E12 based and those will definately NOT Take a chip they used the Jetronic fuel injection. )

So - for 633 cars built off the E-12 chassis and using the Jetronic injection, NO CHIP!! but for the E28 based 633's using the Motronic system - CHIP AWAY. although I think Dinan and BMP are about the only folks that bother to make chips for our old ECU's

The intake manifold on the one you are looking at is Motronic intake manifold, and should chip just fine (assuming engine management matches the mani). You should also have a 3.46 I think but can't remember LSD, as they were made standard for US models on the 84 6ers. and switching to a 3.91 or higher geared diff will get you off the line faster, but decrease your top end a bit. (probably not noticable)

Higher cap injectors seem to do good things to - ask KCRON - he's got 24#'s on his W/ a few other goodies and gets 220 or something close in RWHP....

The bigger brake systems on Non-ABS cars are harder to install however..

I say "GET THE TURBO" but that's just my .02 (and what I would do If I was keeping my 633.)

He Posts as E34biturbo on here, as his first effort on the car was twin turbo.. I'm not sure who makes the turbo, but it's huge..

He's got other cars too..

there's a bolt on turbo coming from www.Turbochargingdynamics.com

here soon that promises to be good.

Not quite 600 rwhp, but still, a nice improvement over factory specs....
