my steering wheel and drivers seat were not moving at all, couldnt get them to work off mem function and the wheel was obnoxiously high.. happened while at a gas station.. so i decided to pull the fuses and see if they were bad (oem fuse have a very small wire, couldnt tell by leaning into the compartment from drivers seat

well, of course, i pulled the wrong fuse.. instead of #13 i pulled #14 (see this for reference: fuse diagram (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3388/3540234095_6ae6533286.jpg)) and it killed the car (listen, i know turn engine off when pulling fuses, bararar)

now she starts like a grumbly old whore and is running kind of weird, solid acceleration and everything just rumbly, especially when i start her, almost like the engine says 'ok' then pauses, then says 'seriously, i'm ok'

did i screw anything up majorly by pulling that fuse or has another issue become more present at just the perfect time? should i discon the battery for a few hours?

Be worth a try. If the engine was running at the time, it could have jumbled the DME. Wait 16 min until the car goes to sleep before disconnecting the battery. Leave the trunk open during this time. The trunk lights will go out when the car goes to sleep.

As far as the seat & steering wheel...did you check the electrical connection to your driver's seat control module? That's usually the first place to look with issues you mention.

The seat control module, also controls the steering wheel...and if the plastic cover around the base of your driver's seat is loose...then pressure on the wiring harness to the seat's control module usually breaks where the electrical harness connects to the module. This usually results in the harness wiggling out of its' electrical connector which results in loss of power to the seat & steering wheel.

(wiring harness with broken lock and "neck" of switch is broken just like in pic above)

info and stuff
i knew you'd be in here, i just knew it, thanks for all the input too, i 'reset' my car and the issue went away, but i know that i'll have to look through those connectors because i know the issue will come back, as it's been off and on and sometimes my wheel doesnt go all the way up when i turn her off, amongst other things

have you ever thought about making a site with all of your info, or are you 'the guy' at bimmerboard?
