RealOem isn't that clear on where the lighting comes from for the
heater controls and ashtray.

I see 3 small clear windows on the bottom of the HVAC panel which in
my mind says the lighting comes from below...?
The HVAC diagram in RealOem shows a bulb behind the dial panel but it
doesn't show it coming through it, it looks like it is below the panel, like the
bulb is between the panel and the ashtray

I'm somewhat confused here! lol I would appreciate any input!

Thanks
Greg

Apparently there is a single bulb INSIDE the heater control Assy
The whole unit has to come out and be disassembled to replace it!

You are correct in that there is a single bulb inside the heater control assembly. You have to take it out and remove everything from the faceplate to get to the bulb, which sits on the front of the controls (right behind the faceplate). The bulb is pretty much directly behind that label beneith the dials which shows the configuration of controls for the defrost.

I'm not sure what exactly the bulb is, as in part numbers or anything, but you might be able to find something that would work at a auto parts store.

I was able to replace the bulb at the rear of the HVAC which lit the temp dials relatively easily.

Which bulb is out, or rather what's not lighting up?

Thanks guys...I found the bulb by taking apart a spare control panel,
called the dealer for a bulb #62111391777 12v 1.2w no longer available
by that part number. Seems you have to take the bad bulb in and they will
try to match it up...FIGURES lol but the bulb in my spare control panel works
so Ill just transfer that one to the panel in the car. I assume it lights the ashtray
also by shining down through 3 clear panels on the bottom of the dial face.
Damn, all for a bulb! And FYI there's a writeup in the DIY haha

Thanks people!
