View Full Version : *HELP* Clicking noise by feet! What the???

I hear, and feel a *click* by the foot well. It happens while rolling and while stopped. While both on and off the brakes.

This is so insanely vague, does anyone have any freakin clue what this could be? Something under the dash maybe. Or maybe oil pump nut related?? I turned the fans off and it still did it.

I don't know another way to describe it but something doesn't sound right. :mad

Its it a click click...wait a few seconds...click click. that you can feel on the brake pedal?

Which footwell is it coming from? Is it a constant clicking?

Its not exactly constant, well, it's not rhythmic, but yes it keep occuring . drivers side.

I should add that the gas light is about to come on. I was thinking possibly fuel pump? not sure why it would make a rough click like that though

If I remember right, it the ABS unit/switch... I get that click when I am sitting in bumper to bumper traffic from time to time.

You can feel it through the brake pedal sometimes.

ahhh! I see.

I hope that's it, because then I won't give a crap, and maybe that will even turn abs off on the car. That would be an added bonus! (I hate computer aided driving of any sort)

ABS isn't a bad thing... keep in mind cars on the Rally Circuit or even Formula 1, LOTS of electronically assisted equipment out there.

But aside from that... yeah the weird ticking... I've been commuting in the city for close to 4 years in HEAVY traffic, nothing's leaking or falling out yet. And my ABS STILL kicks in on those crazy 90 degree downhill off ramps!

I have the same issue, can hear it and definitely feel it through the brake pedal. Anyone ever try to figure it out/fix? Thanks.

The heater control valve mounted on the firewall is known to make this noise.

For me, the issue has not really returned. I'll add it to the 'BMW just being a BMW' list. Kind of like how my cooling system took a sh!t a few weeks ago. She's just acting out again. Fixed her up and bounced her off the limiter for a few day to put her back in place. She's behaved since.
