Hey guys,

I'm debating whether or not I want to get a new steering wheel. I like the E46 M3 wheel, but I don't know if theres a way to fit it in the E36. I also like some of the Momo wheels with the suede/alcantra rims. Any advice is welcome.

What steering wheel do you have? Why did you choose it?

If you're into a more modern look, just snag a 3-spoke wheel off of a '99 or something, unless your heart is set on an E46 style wheel. I personally like the stock 4 spoke wheel on my '95. It's clean and simple. One day I may upgrade to the 3 spoke, but who knows.

I've always loved the look of the euro three spoke wheels.

Yeah i cant stand the HUGE M3 stock wheels they feel so stupid.

I have a OMP 330mm and its perfect the best size and best wheel hands down (bunch of race teams use OMP and thats why i picked it great company).

The debate between 350mm and 330mm is kinda a personal choice in the E36 but i would go 330mm. Its the perfect size in my opinion and it makes the car feels so much better.

Some people wont go with a non airbag wheel but i have race seats and a rollbar etc etc (my 1993 truck is way more dangerous then my M3 with no airbag).

Good luck with the wheel. Also you will want better seats if you get a small race wheel.....

I really want one of the aftermarket wheels with red stitching and airbag (name escapes me right now). They're the best option for a street driven car imo. Cost prohibitive :shifty

Tidbit of info: The US M3 3 spoke is the smallest diameter steering wheel available on E36 cars (not including non-airbag wheels).

That wheel, along with your seats, is gorgeous.

Yes, that is a sweet setup. I've had my eyes on that steering wheel for a while--the clunky 4-spoke has got to go.

Mine's round and was attached to the car when I bought it. I chose it because it makes the car turn left and right. You're welcome?

I was on the fence between US and Euro 3 spoke. You guys made that decision so much easier. Euro ftw

I have the stock 4 spoke :shifty:

^ I had the 4 spoke too, couldn't stand it. I have an M Tech II jobby now and I love it. May get it thickened and retrimmed in alacantra in the future.

Can anyone throw up some links to wheels? I've been wanting to change mine just because of how freaking huge it is. Makes me feel like I'm driving a school bus sometimes.

momo competition

I had a 350mm Momo Competition in another car and liked it a lot. It's a simple piece with good feel (IMO) and it's not super flashy like some others. Not OEM, yet it doesn't look out of place. When I get around to swapping wheels in the M3 I'll probably end up with another Competition.

I like (and want) a momo monte carlo wheel. Have one in my truck and really like the feel.

Thanks man.

I just started, thats a test fit, they are not joined yet, spent 2 hours shaving the rubber tonight. Got my suede & Tri color M Thread last week.

Its not that pretty, but there was nothing out there that had what i wanted. A wide grip 350mm Deep dish wheel with Tri color stitching & an Airbag.

And if it doesnt work im going to be pissed because i have a sway bars set worth of dough into this stupid wheel.
