I saw a couple threads asking differences in both setups. I figured this might help a bit because it's of the same car. Sorry they're both on my snows but tis the season! I had the sports on there for the past year and just put the races on the other day. Both times had bilstein sports. I don't really notice that much difference in drop in the rear, just in the front a little. The major difference is the ride. The race setup is far better. Sports were way too bouncy and actually a much thrashier ride. The race's are amazing, a ton less body roll, got rid of the bounce, feels so much better. I live in the northeast too with a lot of roads right now buckling up so we get the worst of it. IMO I would never get the sports again, just go to the race just not worth it and there isn't much difference in the drop. Any questions just ask! Thanks... on to the pics!

WoW, I wish I would have known this a while back when I was deciding between the two. I was as afraid the Race were going to be too low for me in the city, Potholes galore.

Me too. I was going to buy the sports until reading this thread afraid of the race springs being too harsh for the street..

Hm. Interesting...
every other post on this forum says race springs are just for drop and cause issues.
I have sports and haven't had issues - but haven't experienced race. Good info OP.
oh, did you measure your wheel center --> fender before and after? I'd be curious about that. I'm at 12.75" front and rear on sports. (coupe)

OP you must just be lying. All the experts say you now have the worst setup possible for the E36 M3. It can't ride nice at all. And it just sits on the bump stops!
/sarcasm
Looks good. I have also had H&R Race before and enjoyed them.

haha! Yea, well I guess I'm going against the grain on those guys! Well if I have issues I'll be sure to post about it.. The sports were on for about 2 years now so we'll see.
No.. I didn't measure anything sorry

Physics tells a different story... Maybe the billies are a better fit for the race springs due to their well documented valving issues on the e36m. My Koni/Dinan spring setup seems to handle quite nicely and I couldn't imagine having a shorter spring setup. I bottom out the bump stops enough as it is. But on Bilstein's, it might be a whole nother ballgame! Eigther way, the look is nice and I am glad you are pleased with the purchase, at the end of the day, that is whats REALLY important!
OT: It might help if you put your city's road conditions for perspective...

I used to have a 325is on race/billys. It looked good, but the ride quality was garbage. I have a hard time buying that the race feel better than your previous sports. My M3 now is on sport/koni's and I don't have any complaints. Smooth ride with great handling. If your going to be on race you better be damn sure you have rear shock reinforcements and rtab reinforcements.
