Hi,

I'm trying to find out which version of data files I need to (safely) use NCSExpert and Progman for my 2006 E87.

Do I need the newest sp-daten files from ITSA v40 or are the files delivered with NCSExpert 3.1 fine for this car? (I know that I have to use E89).

One more question: for what do I need these files in NCSExpert? That Progman needs these files makes sense to me ---- the new firmware is stored in the files, ok.

But I read the ECUs fsw/psw files with NCSExpert, modify the file and write it back. So you can't get into trouble with writing/adding options the ECU does not support...

Where is the missing link in my head? ;-) Some idea?

bye and thanks....

stephan

UPDATE:

Regarding the update of NCSExpert with the new sp-daten files I figured out, that there is a procedure like this:

-->
In each “sp-daten-Exx” folder in the subfolder “daten” find a file “laden.bat” … execute this .bat file and your ncs will be updated automatically with the new data for the corresponding model.
Or u can do the following copy-paste procedure:
Target ---------------------------Source .(SP-Daten-Exx directory from ISTA-P)
\NCSEXPER\SGDAT\ -------- .ipo files
\NCSEXPER\DATEN\ -------- coding data (daten) for models
\EDIABAS\Ecu\ -------------- .prg files......
<-- (quote from this forum)

But i.e. the E89 folder has no "laden.bat" file....also no subfolder "daten".

Some explanations?? Or a link to a thread where these things are explained in detail...??

bye

stephan

If you don't have that file in your folder, you cannot communicate with that module. This problem doesn't affect most older BMWs, because their haven't been any updates for them for a while, but it does affect a lot of newer models.

Refresh the directory as follows:
SP-Data-E**\Data\*.* - to - NCSEXPER\Data\E**\*.*
SP-Data-E**\ECU\*.* - to - EDIABAS\ECU\*.*
SP-Data-E**\ SGDAT\*.* - to - NCSEXPER\SGDAT\*.*
(I use Total Commander, to check old files against new.)

Thank you so much for your response.

So I need only the latest daten files I can get?

And does the latest set of daten files covers older modules or do I need to update these modules before I can code them with ncsexpert?

Bye

If your car goes into a BMW main dealer for servicing or repairs, then yes. If it doesn't, probably not (because the cars software won't get updated).
And does the latest set of daten files covers older modules or do I need to update these modules before I can code them with ncsexpert? The latest daten files sometimes cover older models, but it is rare. If you have problems with your daten files, i can send you the latest files for E89 (I have built-up a big database of data files).

Excellent. This would be fine. Am I right with this: if i use the latest daten files in ncsexpert it covers every possible E89 ECU software version up to the date of these daten files?

And if my car is not updated by a dealer from now on everything will work? ;-)

Do you want to send the files via email? proton911 at gmx dot de

Than you so much and bye

Yes. I'll send you the files later. :)

While your at it would you mind sending me whatever you have for the E60? I'm just a few files short of actually getting NCS Expert to work.

Thanks!

Hi I don't suppose you have the latest SP-Daten files for a 2005 E87 116i ME9N45

I have tried to download a couple versions of the SP-Daten and there doesn't seem to be any sign of my ecu software in E89 V41 or E89 V60.1.

Can you please let me know what version my ecu is in?

Thanks

can E89 work on E87?
how can I find the same update for E87? I have a BMW 116i 2008 and after I tried to coded the car for faulty ABS and some other parts, I lost my speedometer and my fuel gage accuracy! and all my warning light came back. when I clear the codes with Carly, they go away but they come back after 5 second of driving and the problem of pedometer and my fuel gage kicks in... I searched on the net and apparently I have an old data on my ISTA-D AND ISTA-P. could you help please? thank you.
