Hi,
I hope someone can help as ive runout of ideas now.
My IDrive says abs,DSC and runflat problems, when i connected carsoft it showed that the rear left wheel speed sensor was faulty, 5E32 power supply.
I changed the sensor but the error code was still there. To be sure it was the correct sensor i swapped the 2 rear sensors but the fault stayed with the rear left.
I then thought it might be the abs module that was at fault so i bought a second hand one off ebay £220 but the fault is still there.
Has anyone got any ideas?

So to ask the obvious question, have you checked the power supply to the wheel speed sensor?

Did you use genuine BMW parts mate? I only ask because the aftermarket ones can cause all kinds of issues on the E39.

No but ive swapped the right one that does not cause any error codes for the left one so i dont think its anything to do with the sensor.

Have you got DIS installed mate? It not, you might want to get it installed and see what it suggests.
Did you actually wipe the error memory after replacing the sensor? It's not still flagging up the historical fault is it?

I havent got DIS. I wiped the memory using carsoft but it keeps coming back. When i disconnect the rh rear sensor i get the same fault code in carsoft but for the rh and then i can clear it ok.
Ive finally got a wiring diagram so im gonna check the continuity of the wires to the sensor.
Found this usful site, http://spaghetticoder.org/bmw/wds/e60e61/

Rob.
The wires being damaged were the cause of the ABS fault on my E39, sadly I found this our after replacing the suspected faulty sensor!! Let us know how you get on. Check the continuity of them both and check for a short to earth also. You need an oscilloscope to check if the sensors are servicable though.
If you want DIS, look at the sticky threads in this forum mate.
Another thing, there was a bad batch of ABS ECU's that went out to be fitted to 1/3/5/Z4 cars, but I. Don't think this is your failure because the fault codes are wrong for it.

The threads at the top of the doagnostic forum with 'Parked' at the start of the titles mate. There is guide on how to install all manner of diagnostic software there. Everything you'll ever need basically, made easy by the members of these forums!

Just took my wheel liner off. Wire looked ok. Did yours have visible signs of wear?
hey guys I have 540i 6-speed (http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/#),speedometer stop working,so I checked the abs (http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/#) sensors,& discovered crack on the wires (http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/#),so I change both of then, but apparently problem remains, scaned the abs & end up with code 1E,,,,,any ideas,I think module under glove box???
