I retrofitted nav in my 2005 525 and on the first night successfully coded it and got nearly everything working. I've been trying all day to remove the legal disclaimer (made it nitch_aktiv) as well as make the lights around the fan show fan speed while in auto. I'm using NCS expert. I read the cappl, rename the trc file to man, open it in notepad, make my changes and save it as a .man file (no trc or text extension). I the choose cappl, process ecu, make sure the job. Is SG coderin (close enough) and choose execute job. The screen says coding active for a while and then switches to coding complete but the changes do not work. If i reread the ecu the original settings are back. When i do this I make sure there is only one .man file in my work folder and have even deleted the trc file to make sure it does not get confused. I'm sure it is something simple and stupid i amm missing here because i got it to work once but can't seem to make it work again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated........ Thanks in advance.

I will try that tomorrow, but could you explain what it is and what's wrong with what I'm doing now? Not doubting you at all, just trying to learn as much as I can. My biggest confusion is why it worked once and now will not. I have an idea as to why, but hopefully your explanation is better than mine.

Hi in your post you said that you coded your cappl to your vo i presume. This job requires a different profile than the job of manipulating the fsw does.I use a third profile to access car/key settings...:D

So this will add a different profile to NCS? I have about 6 to choose from and I'm using expertmode. After the cappl was added to the vo I was able to code it once to activate my phone and from then on it says it codes but nothing happens. What's the difference between the 2 profiles you have listed? Should I be using the profile "trc_fsw_man"? Once again, just trying to learn as much as I can.

Yes you should use the profile for psw/fsw.man when the job is to change the functions [fsw].such as aktiv to nicht_aktiv.The second profile will allow you to access your car/key settings [not sure your car has these may be too new].The expertmode profile you have is good for coding a module to your vo..When/if you want to change the code via netto data you need a different profile again. So to sum up you need different profiles for different jobs.:D

Thank you.....
So what is the preferred profile to update the FA? I have some items that will not stay in there. Is there a profile that does it all?
