I think I would rather have snow than cold.... the old girl starts perfectly and I prefer it in this weather to my Excursion. You just can't beat em.....

I dont get it. I know a couple weeks ago someone started a thread and never got an answer.
So, its -4 outside right now and when I start the car there is no response from the guage cluster or my final stage resistor. I checked the in-line fuse's and they are fine. Anybody else solve this mystery?
Its like I have a cold weather gremlin....

Everytime its cold for me, my cluster acts up too. One of the resisters is screwed up, and its kinda a known thing...there is a fix for it. Usually my cluster is missing a few horizontal lines across the display. sometimes more then others. Its probably a heat issue. Do they start to work a bit after having the car running?

Havent tried. If they dont work, I take my other car. If i wait until the afternoon, they will work usually.
Kinda like the ice gremlins get tired and go to sleep.

I got a good feeling its just like mine...I'm proxy blocked here at work, but i'll see what i can find about those resisters i was referring too. If you can do basic soldering you can fix the issue.

Otherwise, its most likely that issue your looking at with the cluster, and might be better to look into getting your cluster swapped for a newer one, since its a bigger issue then the simple HUD lines issue. The old resisters hate hate HATE the cold.

it is frequent to have more issue in the cold. I have racing engine at startup and batteri problem. And my exhaust is about to give up on me

I guess thats a part of owning a car in winter :/ it sucks. Why was I born in a northern country -.-

Thats a start for ya Beeter. Really looking at this though, I'm thinking finding a newer cluster is looking like a better option.

thanks. So, I got the fact that I need a gauge cluster with the same colored back and that I change the coding plug from my current one to the new one and that should keep my mileage correct. Correct?:help
