View Full Version : e36 - tire size questions; on 15 inch rims
have been running hankook r-s3 225x45x15 on my street/ax/de car and this is my daily driver. looking for a tire with a longer life and there is not many option except for a 225x50x15 like a bridgestone or yoko es100 (which i had on my porsche and were pretty decent re; wear). any reason the 50's would rub? wheels are 15x7 basket weaves oem. thinking a 205 may be pretty narrow on this car, yet there are quite a few options there.
thanks for your time

The Style 17s were the sport package rims with 225/50/15 tires, which are quite limited in selection as you know. If you feel the need for at least 225s, might be easier to find a set of wheels (16"+) with used tires, or go with a 215/45 or 215/50 tire? Those latter being closer to the proper height.

A 205/60/15 will give you the correct height. The Kuhmo ASX is available in that size and it is a decent tire for wear, noise and comfort. I've never autoxed on it but it gripped well on the street.
