Hello,

I have a 1993 325i 5speed with 187k miles on it. I originally bought it for a daily driver but as time went on i starting doing little performance upgrades to it and now its kind of turned into my project car of sorts.

obviously with any old car you'll have a couple problems, but for some reason i cant figure these ones out or fix them.

1. high rev at start. I live in pennsylvania so it gets cold in the winter. not subzero but we've been in the single digits from time to time. its fine in the summer but when it starts to get colder out (anything below 40) when i start my car after its been sitting and its cold, as soon as it starts it revs up to anywhere between 2000-2500k rpm for a second and then goes down to normal idle and everything runs normal after that. but it revs before theres any oil in the head and i just cringe everytime it does it. Ive replaced all the hoses and ive replaced the idle air control but it still does it. does anyone have ideas on what it could be? im clueless

2. door chime. When i turn my car off and pull the key out, i have to wait 3-4 seconds before i open the door or the door chime turns on like my lights are still on or like i have the key in (but i dont) and doesnt turn off till i shut the door. its not the biggest issue in the world but its just one of those things that starts to get on your nerves after awhile.

Any input on these would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My 92 325i does the same here... Damn cold weather. Make sure the oil level is good. I can't find anything wrong with mine, so I'm not sure there's anything wrong with yours. Just a tick tick tick until the oil hits the lifters.... Sux.

Door chime, no idea
